Last Friday, we wrapped up our Double Barrel Bourbon series with the royal champion pour:
Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked.

But in a tragic twist of bourbon betrayal…
I linked it to Woodford Reserve Double Oaked instead.

Close, but not the same bottle.
Kinda like ordering Kobe beef and getting a pretty decent burger instead. Still tasty. Just… not that.

That little slip-up sparked two questions faster than you can say “neat or on the rocks?”👇

❓1. What’s the Difference Between Double Oaked and Double Double Oaked?

Both are top-tier. But here's how they’re different:

🪵 Woodford Reserve Double Oaked

  • Starts like regular Woodford

  • THEN it's aged a second time in a lightly toasted, heavily charred oak barrel

  • This second aging lasts 6–12 months

  • Result? Smooth. Creamy. Hints of vanilla, toffee, and toasted oak

🥇 Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked

  • Starts the same way — original Woodford + second barrel

  • BUT it’s left in that second toasted barrel for a full extra year

  • So while Double Oaked chills for months, Double Double goes deep for 12+ months

  • Result? More body. More chocolate. More spice. A richer, bolder version of its sibling.

Heads up: Double Double is a limited annual release—harder to find, a little pricier, and absolutely worth hunting down if you’re into deep, layered bourbon.

💸 2. “Why can’t you just sell the Double Double Oaked on for $49.95?”

Short answer: I don’t sell whiskey.
If I did, we’d all be drunk and broke 😅
